Flavia Bertorello is an Argentinian-born, New York City–based artist, architect, educator, and material researcher whose practice explores the intersection of art and biology. Through fieldwork, drawing, sound, microscopy, material experimentation, and installation, she investigates processes of transformation across biological, natural, and urban environments. Working with soils, minerals, microorganisms, and food waste, Bertorello uses observation and material research to question conventional ideas of production and consumption while developing alternative ways of understanding and engaging with matter. Editorial practice is also central to her work, with books and publications extending her research beyond the studio and laboratory.
